5 Tips for Arthritis Pain Relief :- Drugs | Causes.
Arthritis Pain Relief Tips
For millions of people through out the world arthritis pain is something that they live with everyday. Most of them are on some type of prescription drug regimen to control the pain. However, drugs alone are often times not enough to keep the arthritis pain at bay. Therefore, there are a growing number of people that are seeking alternative arthritis pain relief. If you have considered some non-traditional treatment methods, but are unsure of how they work, the following tips will help to answer your questions.
1- There are multiple pain medications available for people who suffer from arthritis pain. They consist of over the counter remedies such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen to the stronger prescription drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex. The problem with the stronger drugs is that they often come with undesirable or even dangerous side effects. While the over the counter alternatives are safer, they often need to have other remedies used as well to achieve arthritis pain relief.
2- Exercise is a great option at your disposal when looking for natural alternatives for your arthritis pain relief. Walking is especially good; it is easy to do and does not put too much unneeded pressure on the joints. Other forms of exercises that are especially good for arthritis sufferers are balancing types of movements, such as Tia Chi and water walking. While these activities can help build muscle strength, they may cause some discomfort in the joints. If this happens, stop the exercise, if the pain persists more than a couple of days speak with your physician.
3- Losing weight is another great way to find some relief from your arthritis pain. This is because it has been found that just ten extra pounds adds thirty pounds of stress to the knees. Therefore, losing extra weight will be very effective for arthritis pain relief.
4- Researching and using any product that will make your daily life easier, will also indirectly help ease the pain associated with arthritis. For example, using a shower seat will allow you to shower without much of the pain that can result from extended period of time standing.
5- Visit your physician when you first feel that you are having arthritis pain. Together, the both of you will be able to devise a treatment regimen that is right for you and for your particular situation. Be sure to keep in contact with your doctor, this is the only way to ensure that your treatment methods will change as the pain becomes stronger.

It is necessary to maintain a healthy, balanced arthritis diet for your overall health and to decrease the symptoms of arthritis. Many foods can trigger the inflammation associated with arthritis – and these foods should be avoided as often as possible. With any diet, portion size is one of the key ingredients to a successful diet. Some foods on the avoid list can be consumed in small quantities without adverse effects. It is important that you eat a variety of foods – fruits, vegetables, breads, and meats.
Different types of foods have different nutritional values and a combination is important in order to obtain the greatest benefits from these foods. Some things can be successfully consumed in moderation, such as alcohol, sodium, and sugar. As with any diet, you should avoid too much fat and cholesterol. Be sure your arthritis diet includes foods that will help with your overall health by providing the necessary vitamins and that your diet will help you to maintain a healthy weight. Pay attention to portion sizes and avoid overeating, which can cause you to feel less energetic and can cause you to gain extra weight, which will increase the pressure on the joints.
Arthritis Exercises
Along with a healthy arthritis diet, a regular exercise regimen is essential for your overall health. Exercise can help to keep the joints from stiffening and can decrease the onset of stiffness and inflammation associated with arthritis. It is important that you maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes a healthy diet and regular exercise – not only for your overall health, but to help in the management of your arthritis symptoms.

Herbal Remedies for Arthritis Relief : Prevention :- Pain :- Causes.
Arthritis relief
With so many dangers of arthritis drugs like Vioxx and Naproxin recently exposed, it's no wonder more and more people are turning to herbal remedies for relief. Here are a few herbs that will treat arthritis pain and joint inflammation.
For thousands of years, the Chinese have used ginger to treat arthritis. Recent studies have shown that ginger is helpful in relieving pain from both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
The Scottish and other Nordic peoples discovered years ago that Cod Liver Oil reduced pain and stiffness in the joints, especially during the frigid winter months. Cod Liver Oil is available in supplement form at most health food stores, and has been shown in studies to have numerous health benefits, including reduction of pain from rheumatoid arthritis.
Glucosamine has also recently been tested for the treatment of arthritis pain, and proven very effective for reducing pain from osteoarthritis. Glucosamine also works to repair joint damage and rehabilitate the cartilage.
Everyone's body produces glucosamine, but as your body grows older production slows down. This causes cartilage in weight-bearing joints to harden, and become painful. Glucosamine therapy can help repair damage and reduce pain, in both humans and in pets.
All these and more herbal remedies are available at most health food stores. Additionally, herbal creams can be purchased, many made with peppermint and/or rosemary, that are very soothing when applied topically (mint and rosemary are natural analgesics).
You do not have to take drugs to relieve your arthritis pain. Stop worrying about dangerous side effects. Talk to your doctor about controlling arthritis pain naturally.

Pain Relief For Rheumatoid Arthritis – Discover Secrets For Pain Free Joints in the Next 10 Minutes :- Symptoms – Causes – Prevention.
Relief For Rheumatoid Arthritis
Pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis is a matter of serious concern. So, what are the effective forms of rheumatoid arthritis drug therapy? What are their side effects and special precautions? Find out the expert answers to these important questions in this article.
Rheumatoid arthritis causes a lot of pain and discomfort in the life of the person who is suffering from it. pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis is really a serious issue as more than 2.5 million people suffer from this dreaded disease in the United States alone.
Although prescription based rheumatoid arthritis drug therapy is effective for arthritis pain relief in the short term, it also suffers from the risk of various side effects — which can be fatal at times.
As more and more arthritis research is being undertaken and the side effects of prescription based drug therapy are coming into light, people are now looking for safer, healthier and natural arthritis remedies to control inflammation and to achieve pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis.
These are some of the common arthritis treatments used –
1) Cox-2 inhibitors — they are a popular form of arthritis drug therapy that work by blocking an enzyme called Cox-2 in our body, which is responsible for inflammation. They are approved by the FDA, but have received a lot of bad press and media attention due to their adverse side effects.
For example, Vioxx is a brand of Cox-2 inhibitor manufactured by Merck. It was removed from the market due to many reported cases of stroke and heart attack in patients. In fact, thousands of lawsuits are still pending against it.
So, although they are effective in pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis, they also carry the risk of serious side effects on health.
2) Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) — they are quite popular among people as short-term treatment in pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis. Aspirin and ibuprofen come in this category. They reduce inflammation and provide arthritis pain relief. But, they can cause serious side effects such as stomach problems, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and heart problems, if they are taken for long periods of time in high doses.
3) Corticosteroids — it is a form of arthritis drug therapy which helps to reduce inflammation. They suffer from side effects such as high blood pressure, diabetes, weight gain, thinning of the bones which leads to osteoporosis and much more. This is the reason why health experts recommend using them for short periods only.
4) Natural arthritis remedies — the use of omega-3 fatty acids is one of the most effective means of pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis. They have excellent anti-inflammatory properties and are also very beneficial for a good health including the health of heart, brain, digestive system, skin, joints and hair.
Research has shown that the use of omega-3 supplements helps to reduce tenderness in joints, reduce inflammation, decrease morning stiffness and reduces the need of using other drug therapy for pain relief.
Purified Fish oil supplements are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. They can provide an effective and long term pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis naturally. Omega-3 supplementation becomes increasingly important in the Western world, as their diet is highly deficient in the essential Omega 3s.
However, in case you are using prescription based blood thinner medicines like aspirin, you should consult your doctor before you use omega-3 fish oil supplements in pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Omega 3 fatty acids and fish oil are natural blood thinners and have anti-coagulant properties. So, you should avoid the intake of too many types of blood thinners as it could lead to serious side effects.

New Class of Rheumatoid Arthritis Drugs Can Bring Much-Needed Relief | Pain | Prevention.
Rheumatoid Arthritis Drugs
Several of my patients have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a frustrating condition in which the immune system begins to fight its own body as if it were a disease. In doing so, the body develops a severe, chronic inflammatory response in trying to heal it. This inflammation can flare in all the major joints of the body.
Traditional treatment options for rheumatoid arthritis have been DMARDs (disease modifying antirheumatic drugs), or SAARD (slow acting antirheumatic drugs), and have been fairly successful in treating early diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis. However, not everyone with rheumatoid arthritis responds to them and they do have side effects similar to those of NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
In the last 10 years, however, a new class of rheumatoid arthritis drugs has come on the scene, the "biologics", or BRM's (biologic response modifiers) and have shown greater success in people who have not done well on the traditional drugs. If you have RA, I'd like to share with you what I tell my own patients about the BRM class of rheumatoid arthritis drugs to help you manage your arthritis better.
Treating RA with Biologic-Type drugs
Like my patients, if you watch television, you may have seen commercials for a few of the new biologic-type RA drugs, Enbrel, Humira, Orencia, and Simponi. You may have wanted to ask your doctor about the possibility of perhaps trying one of these arthritistreatments.
These rheumatoid arthritis drugs are actually created from human genes, proteins, and are designed to inhibit the inflammatory response that the immune system causes. These Arthritis drugs were specifically created for those patients whose arthritis does not respond well to more traditional treatments and have been proven to slow progression of the disease. They differ from the older type drugs in that the biologics zero in on specific parts of the immune system instead of broadly treating the entire immune system, thereby lessening side effects.
Advantages to Taking BRM Type RA Drugs
Even though BRM's will not cure arthritis, and those who take them still have symptoms of stiffness and pain, they have far less symptoms than those who do not take them, according to recent research conducted by one of the biologics manufacturer, Centocor Ortho Biotech, Inc. The drugs help improve quality of life, functioning, and ability to productively work, preventing much of the disability that accompanies arthritis.
Are There Side Effects/Disadvantages of Biologics?
As I tell my patients, whenever you take a chemically based drug, there are likely some side effects, and this is true of the biologic-type arthritis drugs as well. However, there are not as many, or severe, as with the more traditional type RA drugs. The most common side effect is rash at the injection site but with any drug that suppresses the immune system, there is always the risk of other side effects. These include:
Susceptibility to infections and other diseases developing
Cannot receive vaccinations (flu, etc) while taking biologics
Pre-existing health conditions like multiple sclerosis or congestive heart failure excludes their use. They could also aggravate an underlying case of tuberculosis. Everyone who wants to take a biologic-type RA should be tested for TB before taking them.
Effects on unborn fetus not clearly known – pregnant women should use with caution.
Must be taken by injection, or intravenous infusion. However, an oral biologic-arthritis drug is on the drawing table so perhaps one will be available soon.
Biologics have to clear from system prior to surgery as open wounds with a depressed immune system can increase the risk for serious infection.
What You Can Do For Your RA
In addition to perhaps taking biologic response modifier-type arthritis drugs, there are several things you can do for yourself that will further help your arthritis symptoms such as:
Regular aerobic exercise: 30 minutes, 5 days a week. Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise as it takes impact of joints. An elliptical machine is also good as it too takes the stress off of joints. Tai chi and yoga are also helpful.
Regular sleep: We all need at least 6 hours of sleep per night, but if you have arthritis, you likely need more sleep. This also combats developing fibromyalgia which can accompany arthritis.
Stress control: Stress can cause stiffness and pain in people who don't have arthritis. In those who do, it can greatly aggravate or intensify existing symptoms. Find ways to decompress like meditation, exercise, or meeting with friends.
Alternative treatments: I have often referred my arthritis patients for acupuncture, acupressure or reflexology (needle-free massage based acupuncture), tai chi exercise, hydrotherapy. These treatments can be done in addition to taking BRMs or DMARD/SAARD. In addition, herbal anti-inflammatories as white willow bark, bromelain, capsaicin, Boswellia, glucosamine, MSM, to name a few. Check with a pharmacist about possible drug interaction if you are taking prescription arthritis drugs.
Diet: Many people with arthritis do better on gluten-free diets as wheat and oats can contribute to inflammation. Be sure to supplement with antioxidants.
RA is a condition that afflicts over 1.5 million Americans. Early diagnosis of it is crucial to getting the proper treatment for it before disabling joint damage begins. If you have symptoms of RA, severe pain and stiffness in the morning rising from bed, and/or after sitting, please contact your doctor and be evaluated for RA. Whatever drug treatment you and your doctor decide on, making the appropriate, natural lifestyle changes will also help you stay mobile.

Arthritis Pain Relief – Getting Help Now Naturally :- Prevention – Symptoms.
Natural arthritis pain Relief
I finally found relief from my arthritis pain, naturally, and you can too. arthritis sufferers today are always seeking relief from their arthritis pain.
As a result of arthritis, the bone just beneath the cartilage undergoes changes that lead to a bony overgrowth and the tissue that lines the joint can become inflamed, the ligaments can loosen and the associated muscles can weaken. Osteoarthritis affects joints in a different way depending on their location in the body, causing various arthritis symptoms. Unlike some other types of arthritis, like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis is not systemic – it does not spread throughout the entire body.
Proteoglycans are the large molecules that help to make up cartilage; they bond to water, which ensures a high-fluid content in cartilage. Cartilage contains a very high percentage of water, but it decreases with age. Cartilage is slippery tissue that coats the end of the bones.
Aging cells could be a factor in the development of arthritis and specifically osteoarthritis. Some possible causes of arthritis include lesser known: bleeding disorders, like hemophilia, that cause bleeding to occur in the joint; disorders such as avascular necrosis, that block the blood supply closest to the joint; and conditions like hemochromatosis, which causes iron to build-up in the joints. Genetic factors are thought to be involved in about 50 percent of osteoarthritis cases in the hands and hips and a somewhat lower percentage of cases in the knee.
A recent study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil in osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and starting to reverse the destruction of joint cartilage within just 24 hours. Natural arthritis treatment is usually a better choice because it's non-invasive and usually anti-inflammatory if living foods are consumed. Nutrition experts say it takes a combination of supplements, not just one supplement to relieve arthritis pain, build cartilage, etc.
Make all-fruit smoothies using a base of two bananas, add one cup of frozen or fresh blueberries and mango chunks or substitute any other fruit and add an energy boost of two tablespoons of organic virgin coconut oil if you like; add one or two leaves of kale for even more super nutrition. If you really want to get rid of your arthritis pain forever it may take a radical change in your diet and an ongoing commitment to it. I started eating a diet of living foods (fruits, raw veggies, raw nuts and raw seeds) which caused my arthritis to disappear and therefore relieve me of arthritis pain; this should be tried for at least 30 days; it would eliminate any foods that might be culprits.
With natural arthritis treatments there will be fewer, if any, side effects or adverse reactions. An acid diet, that is any foods that are not alive, is considered to be inflammatory to the joints.
Dried Montmorency tart cherries seem to be helpful as a natural treatment for arthritis pain for many people. For a natural approach and natural treatment for arthritis make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor – a naturopath; ask around for referrals in your area.
Keep a basket of arthritic treatment aids for arthritic hands (Thera-putty, hand grips, Taiji Chinese chime balls, etc.) to use at bedtime or while watching television. Exercise is good for any joint affected by osteoarthritis. Fight arthritis through plenty of movement and exercise! Your body has 147 joints that are in motion every day of your life; keep them moving!
A good exercise routine is the key to beating arthritis and keeping arthritis pain at bay; so keep moving as much as possible. Stretching and warming up the joints should always be the first step in your exercise routine to make your joints more flexible, but be careful in the morning; you may need an hour or more of moving around first; you can start by moving your limbs around in your bed a few minutes before you get out of bed. Whatever you do, keep moving; don't sit when you can stand, don't stand when you can walk or walk in place.
drugs commonly used for arthritis pain can cause ulcers, heart disease, liver or kidney damage. Let your doctor and pharmacist know about any other drugs, herbs or other supplements you're taking, to ward off any bad or adverse drug reactions that might occur from the combining of different drugs or supplements. If you're planning to take any of the non-prescription NSAIDs for arthritis, make sure you understand what bad effects they can have on the stomach, liver and kidneys; discuss this with your family doctor or rheumatologist.
Knowing more about arthritis and osteoarthritis and how it works will ultimately help contribute to relief of your arthritis pain. And stopping the progression of arthritis as well as stopping your pain should be your number one goal. Once you understand the facts about arthritis and the possible causes and remedies and treatment approaches you can take, you'll be on your way to recovery and pain will go away forever.
